MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MOBILE AREA JEWISH FEDERATION, INC.
August 9, 2021
The properly noticed meeting of the Board of Directors of the Mobile Area Jewish Federation, Inc. was held on August 9, 2021. The meeting was called to order by Executive Director Cassie Morgenstern at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was held on Zoom. In attendance were Larry Voit, Rickie Voit, Barry Silverman, Susan Sass, Rabbi Edward Boraz, Rabbi Steven Silberman, David Meola, Michael Cohen, Deborah Gurt, Steve Muhlfelder, Jonathan Fratkin, Josh Isen, Bob Bloom, Saundra Grace, and Priscilla Gold-Darby.
Each person in attendance individually affirmed his or her consent to electronic participation, and that he or she waives the right to require members to be physically present in order to count in a quorum, vote, or otherwise participate in the meeting.
The agenda for the meeting is attached.
Rabbi Boraz gave the D' var Torah.
It was duly moved and seconded to approve the minutes of the June 14, 2021 board meeting. The motion passed.
The Executive Director called for nominations for the vacant office of President. David Meola and Larry Voit were duly nominated as Co-Presidents. There were no other nominations. The Executive Director declared that the nominations were closed. The Executive Director called for a vote on the nominees. The board unanimously voted in favor of and duly elected David Meola and Larry Voit as Co-Presidents to serve until the board meeting following the next Annual Membership Meeting.
In the absence of the Treasurer, the Treasurer's Report is attached.
Executive Director gave an update on the campaign kickoff event held at Medal of Honor Park. She emphasized the importance of having full board support and participation in the solicitation and financial support of the campaign. 
The Executive Director gave an update on the 2021 campaign. There was general discussion about campaign strategies.
There was consensus that the Executive Director will draft a Covid policy for meetings and events, and that the Executive Committee will meet soon to consider it prior to the next regularly scheduled board meeting in October 2021.
The newly elected Co-Presidents thanked the board for electing them to this position, and reported that they will contact new members of the Jewish community who have been identified. There being no further business, the meeting was thereupon adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
